University of North Texas Center for Human Identification

The University of North Texas Center for Human Identification is an accredited forensic laboratory located in Fort Worth, Texas.  The Forensics Division, which has been performing quality forensic testing since 2000, accepts sexual assault, homicide, property crime and criminal paternity cases.

Due to a National Institute of Justice Backlog Reduction Grant, the UNTCHI is able to offer the following services for free to Texas law enforcement agencies:

 

Serology screening:

Presumptive semen testing (acid phosphatase)

Confirmatory semen testing (p30 antigen ABA card and microscopic sperm search)

Presumptive blood testing (Leucomalachite green)

Confirmatory blood testing (Hematrace antigen card)

 

DNA testing:

Autosomal STR testing

Y STR (Y chromosome) testing

Mitochondrial DNA testing

                 

Additional services include submission of eligible STR DNA profiles generated to the Texas Department of Public Safety for possible CODIS entry, as well as legal testimony on cases processed at the UNTCHI.
