Specimen Collection

The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth has developed a state of the art facility using the latest DNA technology to perform paternity testing. The DNA Identity Laboratory is under the direction of Arthur Eisenberg, Ph.D., a world-renowned molecular biologist.

Currently, the paternity laboratory contracts with the Attorney General of Texas Child Support Division to perform paternity testing. Dr. Eisenberg is an experienced expert witness who has hundreds of court cases to his credit. Many laboratories are able to provide acceptable results but very few can provide paternity results coupled with the testimony of an expert like Dr. Eisenberg. We are able to provide highly accurate results within 10-15 days from the date of specimen collection. We have the ability to obtain a minimum of a 99.9% probability of paternity.

In addition, we are able to provide very logical and understandable visual aids that will enhance your presentation to judges and juries. We provide concise and easy-to-understand explanations of the paternity test results enabling your client to receive the maximum benefit of the DNA results. Dr. Eisenberg or our staff is willing to discuss your test results by phone at no additional cost.

Our fees for paternity determination are competitive. The fee includes testing of the mother, one child, and one alleged father. Additional fees are charged for testing additional children or alleged fathers. There is no additional fee for collection if the collection is performed at one of our routine collection sites. However, we are able to arrange sample collection in a location most convenient for your client.

Please be prepared to provide the following information:

• Names of parties to be tested
• Age(s) of child(ren)
• Name, address, and telephone number of the person initiating the DNA test or of attorney/agency for use in the chain-of-custody documentation
• Names, address, and telephone numbers of the person(s) to whom the results should be sent

Upon receiving the needed information, the DNA Identity Laboratory will make arrangements for sample collections to be taken for all parties involved at a location most convenient for everyone. Sample kits and prepaid mailing packages are provided to the phlebotomist or technician involved in each case.

The highly confidential DNA test results will be mailed directly to the parties indicated above.
